Your prevention and cleaning plan includes taking X-rays of your teeth. At Smiles by Bigelow, we use the latest dental X-ray technology- digital radiography- to capture and store digital images of your teeth and mouth.
Taking digital X-rays is a faster and more comfortable process than taking traditional X-ray film. It also significantly reduces patient exposure to radiation. Because the digital images of your teeth can be viewed instantly, our team is able to detect and diagnose any developing problems more efficiently.
It is very important to have dental X-rays taken every year to prevent any pain, discomfort, and permanent damage to your teeth and mouth. Even though digital radiography is much safer than traditional X-rays, we still take every precaution to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure. Your health and safety are our highest priority.
Do I need an X-ray?
Your need for X-rays is based on your dental and medical history, a dental exam by Dr. Bigelow, any symptoms or signs, your age, and your risk for disease. Full X-rays of your bottom and top teeth should be taken at least once or twice a year, but new X-rays may be required if any dental problems arise. If you are experiencing any pain or difficulties with your mouth or teeth, please contact Smiles by Bigelow today to schedule your next appointment.
