Composite Fillings

Dental fillings repair teeth that are affected by fractures, cracks, and decay. In only one appointment, the decayed portion of your tooth will be removed, cleaned, and filled with a composite (tooth-colored) filling.

Procedure

Composite fillings are usually completed in one appointment. When preparing your tooth for the filling, Dr. Bigelow will remove all dental decay and meticulously clean the tooth. If the decay was near the nerve of the tooth, a special medication may be applied there for your protection. After preparation, the composite filling will be precisely placed, shaped, and polished to match your surrounding natural tooth.

At the conclusion of your dental treatment, Dr. Bigelow will give you instructions and advice on how to take care of your new filling. It is normal to feel sensitivity to your filling when the treatment is first performed, but Dr. Bigelow’s instructions will let you know how to manage any short-term sensitivity, and how to maintain your newly restored dental health. Please call Smiles by Bigelow to schedule your next dental appointment and receive the treatment you need for a healthy smile.
